Deep Ecology and the Work That Reconnects
We offer Deep Ecology workshops and retreats designed for both adults and young people. These transformative programs create a space for reconnection — with yourself, your community, and the Earth.
Our workshops and retreats feature guided group exercises that help you acknowledge both the beauty of our world and the sorrow over what is happening to our planet and society. This deeply moving experience allows you to “see with new eyes,” empowering you to move forward with renewed strength and clarity to face the challenges ahead.
We offer tailored programs for external organisations such as schools, local councils, and festivals.
Active Hope is not wishful thinking. Active Hope is not waiting to be rescued by some saviour. Active Hope is waking up to the beauty of life on whose behalf we can act.
We belong to this world. The web of life is calling us forth at this time. We’ve come a long way and are here to play our part. With Active Hope, we realise that there are adventures in store, strengths to discover, and comrades to link arms with.
None of these can be discovered in an armchair or without risk.

The world is undergoing significant changes—exciting, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming. It’s essential to acknowledge and explore the emotions and thoughts these shifts provoke. With this in mind, we invite you to join us in a conversation about what it means to be alive during such times.
These events provide an opportunity to connect with others in your community through conversation and group exercises. Together, we explore both our gratitude for the beauty of the Earth and our collective despair about its current state. We also create space for envisioning and co-creating positive actions to move forward in this era of upheaval.

“I’ve gained so much from the Deep Ecology workshops. They’ve reinvigorated me, turning knowledge into action, and bringing fresh perspectives and changes to my approach. It’s not a one-time thing for me; I’ve attended at least six workshops and will continue to. Each time, I learn something new and leave feeling renewed. I’m so grateful we have this depth of work in Bellingen.”
“The Deep Ecology workshops have been a wonderful space to slow down and reflect. I often feel overwhelmed by the world, but here I’ve found a gentle place to reconnect with myself and others. It’s not about having answers or solutions — it’s about sharing, listening, and beginning by simply being present with the Earth and each other. I always leave feeling a little more grounded, and renewed to take action!
