WHAT WE DO
Nature Connection & Immersive Education for all ages
We offer hands-on, environmental education and nature connection experiences for all ages. Our programs include specially tailored camps, in-school sessions, and youth bushwalks. These experiences grow nature and sensory awareness, ancestral bush skills, leadership skills and a deeper connection with each other and the land.
Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance
The Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance (BSLA), is a network of local groups who all have a core value of sustainability – ecological, social, and economic.
This Shire-wide alliance works collectively and independently to create a culture of perpetual learning, sustainable action and ecological balance.
Malaami "Back to Origins" Community Project
The Malaami Project was launched to learn from Country through culture and knowledge sharing from Gumbaynggirr elders and changemakers. We continue to support a process of learning about the original culture of this land, to work with community to vision a more balanced and resilient future for the Bellingen Shire, grounded in Gumbaynggirr ways of knowing and being.
Deep Ecology & The Work That Reconnects
Our Deep Ecology retreats and workshops reconnect you with yourself, to your community and to the earth. Through facilitated group exercises we acknowledge both gratitude for the beauty of our world and the despair of what is happening to our planet and to our society. This work helps you see with “new and ancient eyes” and go forward, re-empowered and inspired to take action in the world.
Nature Academy - Professional Learning for teachers and educators
Nature Academy is experiential, mentoring training for educators, parents, and carers.
Our courses, available in-person or online, support you to guide children and young people in exploring local, wild spaces. These programs cultivate confidence, mindfulness, problem-solving skills, and a deeper connection to the natural world and their communities.
4 Lenses Visioning
The Four Lenses Visioning is a facilitated process designed to help groups engage in broader and deeper visioning for the future. Participants explore community needs through four lenses: REFUSE, RECOVER, CHERISH, and CREATE, fostering reflection on values, purpose, and actions to create meaningful change.
CEL-Affiliated Projects
CEL supports many more educational and environmental groups across Gumbaynggirr country.
